Yes, customers who qualify for SNAP EBT benefits can now add a SNAP EBT card to their order and pay online. When placing your pickup order, you will now see “Add SNAP EBT Card” instead of having the option to choose “SNAP EBT at Pickup.” Kroger will no longer be accepting SNAP EBT payments at curbside pickup. Payment using credit, debit, SNAP EBT, or gift-card must be done online at checkout. Customers will now be able to save their SNAP EBT card in the Kroger wallet. See below on how to store a SNAP EBT card.

Yes, customers with SNAP EBT benefits can now pay using their SNAP EBT card online for delivery, save their SNAP EBT card on the Kroger online wallet and split their payment with another card. Any fees that may apply to the order must be covered on another form of payment such as a credit or debit card.

To add a SNAP EBT card to an online order at checkout, under the “Paying With” section click “Add SNAP EBT Card.” Input the SNAP EBT card number and click “Add Card.” After adding the card, your order total will be broken out between eligible and non-eligible items. Click “Submit” and enter your SNAP EBT pin.

To add a SNAP EBT card to the Kroger online wallet, navigate to “My Account” and then “Wallet.” Click “Add new card” and select the payment type as “EBT.” Enter the SNAP EBT card number and click “Submit.”

After adding or selecting your SNAP EBT card as a form of payment, click “Check Balance” under the SNAP EBT card information. Enter your SNAP EBT pin and click “Done.” Your SNAP EBT card balance will now appear.

Customers are not authorized to use SNAP EBT cards to pay for any non-SNAP eligible items, tips, delivery fees, ordering fees or convenience fees that may apply to online order. Non-SNAP eligible items, tips, delivery fees, ordering fees or convenience fees must be paid for using other payment methods such as credit or debit cards.

The SNAP EBT card can only be authorized by customer pin entry at the time of checkout, so we can only charge the amount that was authorized at that time. The backup card will get charged if the final total at the time of fulfillment exceeds the original total shown at checkout. Examples of what may cause this to happen:

    • Instacart delivery substituted item is higher in price than the original item: Instacart does not price match on item substitutions (Kroger blue truck delivery does price match)
    • Weighted item final total exceeds weighted item original total: Weighted item prices shown online are average prices
    • Pricing and promotions that no longer apply (price changes between when the order is placed and when it is fulfilled)
    • Items added at curbside or during the fulfillment process will cause the final total to exceed the original total

By selecting “Don’t Use” when checking out, you are indicating you do not want to use your SNAP EBT card on this order. After selecting this option, the SNAP EBT card will not be charged on this order and the total amount will be charged to credit or debit card.
