Applesauce

Applesauce is easy to make, especially when you use a slow cooker. It also freezes well.

Ingredients

  • 10 large apples
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup apple juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Directions

  • Core and thinly slice apples.
  • Combine all ingredients except lemon juice in a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, or until apples are very soft.
  • Using an immersion blender or potato masher, blend or mash the apples until desired consistency. Stir in lemon juice. Cool and store, covered, in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
