Applesauce is easy to make, especially when you use a slow cooker. It also freezes well.

- 10 large apples
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1⁄3 cup apple juice
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1⁄8 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- Core and thinly slice apples.
- Combine all ingredients except lemon juice in a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, or until apples are very soft.
- Using an immersion blender or potato masher, blend or mash the apples until desired consistency. Stir in lemon juice. Cool and store, covered, in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
