Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 cup instant corn masa for tortillas (note: do not use cornmeal or masa harina)
  • 2 cups water, warmed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3⁄4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

  • In a bowl, use wire whisk to mix masa and water.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, cook milk, vanilla extract, sugar and masa mixture, whisking constantly, 10 minutes, until it thickens.
  • Pour into cups and serve warm.
