Baharat

Baharat is a spice mix used throughout the Middle East: Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan. Its name simply means spice in Arabic. There are endless variations, so feel free to experiment. Try Baharat on different meats and vegetables, or stirred into rice pilaf.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. ground black peppercorns
  • 2 Tbsp. hot paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. ground coriander seeds
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cloves
  • 1 Tbsp. ground mint
  • 2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Combine all spices and mix well. Store in airtight container for up to 6 months.
