Baked Mac and Cheese Recipe

Baked Mac and Cheese

A family recipe for baked mac and cheese that both adults and kids will keep asking for.


Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 box of pasta shells or elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1⁄2 stick of butter
  • 1⁄4 cup of flour
  • 1⁄2 tsp. of table salt
  • 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  • Cook pasta a little al dente, then set aside.
  • Melt butter in a sauce pan.
  • Stir in flour and salt.
  • Slowly pour in milk while stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Once thickened and starting to bubble, stir in cheddar cheese.
  • Turn off the heat and stir cheese until melted.
  • Pour cheese mixture into 11x9 casserole dish, and incorporate pasta.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and bake covered at 350° for 25 minutes, then uncovered for another 10-15.
  • Let cool and serve.
