Basic Baked Potato
After cooking, you can load the potato with sour cream, bacon bits, chives, shredded cheese, or your own favorite toppings.

- 4 baking (russet or Idaho) potatoes
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Wash the potatoes and scrub to remove any dirt. Poke a few holes in each potato with a fork. Place directly on the middle oven rack.
- Bake the potatoes for 45 minutes or until done. To test for doneness, pierce the potatoes with a fork. It should go through easily. Remove from oven. Cut each potato in half lengthwise while still hot. Add the butter. Serve hot.
