Basic Cooked Instant Rice
Using instant rice (also called quick-cooking rice) considerably speeds up the cooking time. While these general instructions should work for most types of instant long-grain cooked rice, be sure to follow the package directions if they are different.

- ¾ cup water
- ¾ cup instant long-grain rice
- ⅛ tsp. salt
- Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Stir in the rice, making sure it is thoroughly wet. Stir in the salt. Remove the rice from the heat. Cover the saucepan and let stand for 5 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
- Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve.
