Basic Cooked Rice

When cooking long-grain rice such as jasmine rice, rinse the grains with cool water to remove any grit and to avoid clumping while it cooks.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cup long-grain rice

Directions

  • Bring the water and rice to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • When the water is boiling, partially cover and lower the heat to medium low.
  • Cook for approximately 20 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for about 3–5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Use a fork to fluff the rice before serving.
