Basic Cooked Rice
When cooking long-grain rice such as jasmine rice, rinse the grains with cool water to remove any grit and to avoid clumping while it cooks.

- 1½ cups water
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- Bring the water and rice to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- When the water is boiling, partially cover and lower the heat to medium low.
- Cook for approximately 20 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Cover and cook on low heat for about 3–5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Use a fork to fluff the rice before serving.
