Ingredients
- 1 head (2 lbs.) green cabbage, finely shredded
- 2 large carrots, shredded
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1⁄4 cup + 2 Tbsp. sugar, divided
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1⁄2 cup + 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon celery seed
Directions
- In large mixing bowl, toss cabbage, carrot and onion with ¼ cup sugar and salt. Let stand 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, black pepper and celery seed.
- Drain and rinse cabbage mixture. Place on towel-lined surface, top with another towel; press dry.
- In large bowl, toss cabbage mixture with dressing. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Refrigerate leftovers.
