Ingredients
- 1 lb. apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 1⁄2-inch rounds
- 3 Tbsp. rum
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 lemon peel, minced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 cup whole milk
- 1⁄2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups sunflower oil
Directions
- Put the apples in a medium bowl, and add rum, sugar, and the minced lemon peel. Cover with a cloth and marinate for 1 hour.
- In a large bowl, pour the flour, milk, and salt, and stir well with a wooden spoon. Cover and leave at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Strain the apples. Pour the oil in a saucepan and bring to 350°F. Soak the apples one after another in the batter, then put them in the frying oil. Once a side is golden, flip it to the other side. Use a slotted spoon to take them out when golden on each side, about 2 minutes.
