Bourbon Bacon Baked Beans

With a few simple additions, standard baked beans can be infused with bold flavor.

Ingredients
- 8 oz. Kroger® Hardwood Smoked Sliced Bacon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. Kroger® Crushed Red Pepper
- 1 tsp. Kroger® Ground Mustard
- 2 tbsp. bourbon
- 2 tbsp. Kroger® 5% Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 cans (28 oz. each) Kroger® Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans
Directions
- Heat the bacon in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is crisp. Once it’s crisp, remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined pan. Leave the bacon grease in the saucepan.
- Add the chopped onion to the bacon grease and cook for 3-5 minutes or until softened. Stir in red pepper flakes and mustard powder. Cook for 30-60 seconds to bloom the flavor.
- Add brown sugar, bourbon and apple cider vinegar to the saucepan. Cook for 1-2 minutes to reduce liquids and cook off the alcohol.
- Stir in beans and reserved bacon. Bring to a low simmer; cook for 3-5 minutes to bring flavors together.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container.
