Brandied Cherries

This is a yummy treat that can also become part of various baking efforts.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 6 lbs. dark sweet cherries, washed
  • 1¼ cups brandy


  • Combine sugar, water, and lemon juice in a large stockpot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to a simmer. Add cherries and simmer until hot throughout. Remove from heat; stir in brandy.
  • Pack hot cherries into hot jars, leaving ½" headspace. Ladle hot syrup over cherries, leaving ¼" headspace. Remove air bubbles. Wipe rims. Cap and seal.
