Butter Pecan Cookies
These are beautiful cookies to pack in small tins and give to friends and relatives.

- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1⁄2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 tsp. salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 48 pecan halves
- In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and vanilla. Gradually add salt and flour; blend well. Blend in chopped pecans. Chill dough for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Shape cookie dough into small balls and place about 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Press a pecan into each ball. Bake for 20 minutes or until just browned on the bottoms. Let cool completely.
