- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter, melted
- 1⁄3 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1⁄3 cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1⁄8 tsp. salt
- 1 pastry crust (9 inches), unbaked
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl whisk together the sugar, butter, flour, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pastry crust and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the lower third of the oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 325°F and bake for an additional 35 minutes, or until the pie is a rich golden brown on the top. Cool at least 1 hour before slicing.
