Chicken Makhani

Traditionally, this dish has a good combination of sweetness from sugar and spiciness from the ground spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut in large pieces
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh minced ginger
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • ½ tsp. cayenne
  • ½ tsp. ground cloves
  • ½ tsp. fenugreek seeds
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • ¾ cup fat-free Greek yogurt

Directions

  • Place the chicken and all the other ingredients except the yogurt into a 4-quart slow cooker. Stir. Cook on low for 5 hours.
  • Stir in the yogurt. Serve immediately.
