Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

This recipe for buttercream frosting rivals even bakery-style chocolate frosting thanks to the wonderful sweetness and flavor of pure coconut sugar.

Makes: 2½ cups

Ingredients

  • 2⅔ cups coconut sugar
  • 1½ Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1⅔ cups cocoa
  • ⅛ tsp. sea salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 6 Tbsp. heavy cream

Directions

  • In a blender, blend coconut sugar and cornstarch for a few minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally, until it turns into a fine powder.
  • In a large bowl, using a hand-held mixer, cream together the powdered sugar mix and the butter. Add in cocoa, salt, and vanilla.
  • Slowly add the heavy cream and whip until desired consistency is reached.
