Chocolate Chip Squares

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips


  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8" or 9" square pan.
  • In a bowl, stir together the oil, sugar, and eggs, mixing well. In another bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Add the flour mixture to the oil, blending well. Add the vanilla and sour cream, mixing well. Stir in the chocolate chips, mixing well. Spread in the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Let cool on a rack, then cut into squares to serve.
