Classic Grilled Asparagus with Lemon and Olive Oil

You need fairly thick asparagus spears for this recipe.

  • 1 lb. asparagus
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper


  • Rinse the asparagus and pat dry on paper towels. Remove the tough, woody bottoms.
  • Set grill for medium-low and make room for indirect heat. Toss asparagus with oil and lemon juice.
  • Grill for about 4–6 minutes per side, depending on the heat of the grill and the thickness of the spears. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
