Classic Meatloaf
It's time for a comfort-food favorite. Tried and true ingredients make this an affordable dish that brings rave reviews. Just whip up some mashed potatoes and dinner is ready!
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup oats
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon sage
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons sea salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 can tomato sauce, 15 ounces, divided
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, oats, egg, sage, salt and pepper. Add milk and 1/3 of the tomato sauce.
- Place the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape into a loaf. Bake for 10 minutes. Add remaining tomato sauce to top of loaf. Place back in oven and cook another 50 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
