- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 tsp. baking powder
- 1⁄4 tsp. salt
- 1⁄4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1⁄2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1⁄2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 cup whole milk
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until light. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Add the flour mixture and the milk to the shortening mixture, combining thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned. Let cool on a rack.
