Applesauce is easy to make, especially when you use a slow cooker. It also freezes well.

- 10 large apples
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup apple juice
- ¼ cup sugar
- ⅛ tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- Core and thinly slice apples. Combine all ingredients except lemon juice in a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until apples are very soft.
- Using an immersion blender or potato masher, blend or mash the apples until desired consistency. Stir in lemon juice, cool, and store, covered, in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
