Cranberry-Walnut Sauce for Turkey

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup claret wine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 10 peppercorns, cracked
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1 Tbsp. grated orange zest


  • Place cranberries, claret, sugar, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. The cranberries will pop, so cover the pot. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick.
  • Add the nuts and orange zest and stir gently. Serve.
