Creamy Grits

These savory grits go perfectly with shrimp, pork medallions, chops, or just about anything you might serve over rice or polenta. You can stir in a cup of shredded Cheddar or Havarti cheese, but these grits are delicious just as they are.

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2⁄3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup water
  • 1⁄4 cup butter
  • 1⁄4 tsp. salt
  • 1⁄4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits


  • In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth, cream, and water to a boil.
  • Stir in butter, salt, and pepper. Whisk in grits gradually so mixture does not stop boiling. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Cover and remove from heat.
