Crisp French Toast Stick
French toast is easy to make and itʼs an inexpensive way to stretch bread.
Serves: 4Hands-on: 25 minutesTotal: 25 minutesDifficulty: Easy
- 8 slices hearty bread
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1⁄3 cup milk
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 cups finely crushed leftover cereal flakes
- 1⁄4 cup butter
- 1 cup syrup
- In shallow bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon and beat until smooth. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting stand for 1 minute, turn over, and then dip into crushed cereal to coat.
- In large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. When itʼs melted and foamy, add the coated bread pieces, two to three at a time. Cook on first side for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Carefully turn and cook on second side for 2–4 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Serve immediately with syrup.
