Crumb Cake

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1⁄4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1⁄2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 large egg
- 1 Tbsp. dark molasses
- 1 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan.
- Mix together the first 8 ingredients. Set aside 1⁄2 cup of the mixture and, to the remainder, add the egg, molasses, and buttermilk. Beat well, pour into 8-inch pan. Sprinkle the reserved flour-butter mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean. Cool in the pan.
