Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 3⁄4 cups heavy cream
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1⁄4 cup sugar
  • Whipped Cream Topping:
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 box dark chocolates, optional for topping

Directions

  • Melt the dark chocolate chips in the bowl over a double boiler. Mix the chocolate with a silicone spatula to ensure that it melts evenly. As soon as the chocolate is melted, remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Whip the heavy cream until it reaches soft peaks then set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites while slowly adding the sugar until it has reached soft peaks as well.
  • Fold the egg whites into the bowl of melted chocolate until just combined then add in the whipped heavy cream. Fold until the mixture is smooth.
  • Transfer the mousse into ramekins then let chill in the fridge for at least one hour.
  • To make the whipped cream, use an electric mixture to whip the heavy cream while slowly adding in the sugar and vanilla until it reaches stiff peaks. Pipe a swirl of whipped cream on top of the mousse once it’s chilled then top with chocolates.
