Franzia White Wine Mac 'n Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1⁄4 cup Franzia Chardonnay Boxed White Wine
  • 1 cup Elbow Macaroni, dry
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1⁄2 cup whole milk
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt, plus more for boiling pasta
  • 1⁄8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1⁄2 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1⁄2 cup sharp white cheese, grated
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons panko breadcrumbs
  • 1⁄2 tablespoon Parmesan, grated
  • Olive oil

Directions

  • In small saucepan, bring liberally salted water to boil. Cook noodles until al dente. Drain; set aside.
  • In same saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 30 seconds.
  • Slowly add milk, whisking continuously to evenly combine. Add chardonnay, mustard, salt and cayenne pepper. Stir continuously until sauce thickens, about 3 minutes.
  • Once thickened, slowly whisk in cheese until smooth. Continue heating 1 minute. Stir in cooked noodles.
  • Pour macaroni into small baking dish. Top with panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan; drizzle with olive oil. Place under broiler until topping is golden.
