Freezer Peanut Sauce

Make a big batch of peanut sauce and keep it stored in the freezer until you need it. Peanut sauce tastes excellent on many items, including chicken, grilled beef, pork, noodles, rice, and even breadsticks.

  • 2 tsp. peanut oil
  • 2 medium shallots, peeled and minced
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • 4 tsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. dark sesame oil
  • 2 tsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice


  • Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté shallots 5 minutes. Add peanut butter, soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, crushed red pepper, and water. Whisk until mixture comes to a very soft boil, about 5 minutes. Stir in lemon juice.
  • Cool. Pour into ½ pint freezer containers; freeze. Use within 6–8 months.
