Glazed Turnips with Cinnamon

For extra flavor, add a pinch of paprika when sautéing the turnips.

  • 1½ lbs. turnips
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped


  • Peel the turnips and cut into 1" pieces. In a large frying pan place the turnips with enough salted water to cover. Bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the turnips, covered, until they are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork (about 10 minutes). Drain the turnips. Clean out the frying pan.
  • Melt the butter in the frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the turnips and toss with the cinnamon and sugar. Sauté until they turn golden brown (about 5–7 minutes). Stir in the parsley, and serve.
