Greek Taramosalata

This is a thick, creamy spread/dip with a hauntingly delicious flavor. Serve as a spread or dip for bread or raw vegetables.

  • 5 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 1⁄2 yellow onion
  • 2 lemons
  • 4 oz. tarama (cured carp or cod roe)
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes


  • Cut the bread and onion into chunks. Juice the lemons and discard them.
  • Put all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
