Grilled Yam Slices

  • 4 large yams (or sweet potatoes)
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. orange juice


  • Cut yams into slices that are approximately ½" thick. Do not peel. Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil and add yams. Cook until the yams just begin to soften. Cool yams slightly.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, and orange juice. Place yams on grill and brush with butter mixture.
  • Grill, turning occasionally, until yams become light brown. Baste with butter mixture.
