Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound sweet onions, cut in half and sliced thin
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 cup Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise
  • 1 cup Original Sour Cream
  • Potato chips, cut-up veggies or crackers, as desired

Directions

  • Place oil, onions and salt in skillet over medium-low heat. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until onions are softened and start to take on a golden color, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Add balsamic vinegar, honey and dry mustard to the onions, stirring to combine. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes until vinegar is reduced and glazes the onions.
  • Cool onions completely, about 45 minutes.
  • In a bowl, stir together mayonnaise, sour cream and balsamic onions. Allow to stand at least 15 minutes to blend flavors.
  • Serve with potato chips, veggies or crackers.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.
  • Tip: You can make the onions a few days ahead of time and store refrigerated until ready to make the dip. The dip can also be made a day before serving for maximum flavor.
