Ketchups are traditionally high in sugar, and sugar-free versions are usually substituted with a chemical sweetener. If you make your own, you’ll know exactly what ingredients are in your specially made ketchup!
Serves: 16Hands-on: 5 minutesTotal: 4 hours 5 minutesDifficulty: Easy
- 1 can (15 oz.) no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 2 tsp. water
- ½ tsp. onion powder
- ¾ cup raw honey
- ⅓ cup lime juice
- ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp. ground cloves
- ⅛ tsp. ground allspice
- ⅛ tsp. ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
- ⅔ tsp. sweet paprika
- Combine all the ingredients in a 2½-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low, stirring occasionally, for 4 hours or until ketchup reaches desired consistency.
- Turn off the slow cooker and allow mixture to cool, then transfer to a covered container (such as a recycled ketchup bottle). Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
