Homemade Lemonade

Lemonade made this way bears little resemblance to the watered down version made from a mix. It is worth the effort and tastes wonderful on a hot summer day.

  • 6 large lemons
  • 1 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
  • 8 cups boiling water


  • Scrub the lemons and halve them. Squeeze the juice and pulp into a large bowl or pitcher. Add the sugar, and pour half the water over it. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the lemon halves and the rest of the water. Stir well, then cover and allow to cool. Serve over ice.
