Hot Butter Pecan Sauce

This couldn’t be richer or lovelier over ice cream, sorbet, or crepes. Nuts add a wonderful crunch.

  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecan


  • Combine sugars and salt in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Heat, stirring, until sugars melt; bring to a boil. Cook over high heat until caramelized. Remove from heat and add vanilla and cream. Add nuts, stir, and serve hot.
