Hot-Buttered Rum

Hot-buttered rum is a comforting and soothing hot beverage with a kick. It is the perfect après-ski drink.

  • 2 oz. unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1⁄3 cup brown sugar
  • 1⁄8 tsp. cloves
  • 1⁄4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1⁄8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 oz. gold rum
  • 2 cinnamon sticks


  • Whip the butter with the honey, brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg with an electric mixer until fluffy.
  • Bring the water to a boil.
  • Combine the rum, boiling water, and butter mixture and stir until melted. Pour the hot buttered rum into two coffee mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks.
