Serves: 6Hands-on: 25 minutesTotal: 45 minutesDifficulty: Medium
- 1 lb. sausage
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1⁄2 tsp. minced garlic
- 1 tsp. sage
- 1 box (15 oz.) refrigerated pie crust
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- In skillet, brown sausage and onion for 7 to 10 minutes until sausage is no longer pink. Add garlic and sage. Roll out the pie crust to about half its original thickness and form a rectangle. Spread the sausage mixture along the long end of the rectangle. Beginning at the end with the sausage, roll the pie crust up like a jelly roll.
- In a small bowl, mix the egg and milk. Brush around the outside of the roll with the egg mixture and slice decorative slits in the top of the dough. Cut into 2-inch pieces and spread on a baking sheet and freeze.
- Bake frozen sausage rolls at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
