Manjarblanco (Peruvian Dulce de Leche)

Many Peruvian sweets and desserts have manjarblanco as one of their ingredients. There are several recipes for this creamy caramel, but modern cooks adore the quick method using canned milks.

  • 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz.) evaporated milk


  • In a saucepan, pour sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, lower the heat, and cook, stirring continuously until the mixture is thick and you can see the bottom of the saucepan, about 40 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
