Maple-Apple Jam

Just for fun, leave 1/2" of space at the top of the jars, sprinkling hard-crack caramel and chopped nuts on top of the jam. The tasty result is similar to a candy apple at the fair.

  • 6 lbs. mixed apples, peeled and chopped
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. ginger


  • Combine all ingredients in a large nonreactive pot. Bring to a boil over medium low heat.
  • Continue boiling, stirring frequently, until the jam holds its shape when put on a cold platter.
  • Pour hot into hot jars, leaving ¼" headspace. Cap and process in a hot-water bath 10 minutes.
