Meaty Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

These mushrooms are wonderful warm sliced over salads, in sandwiches, and as part of an antipasto. They go well with roasted peppers and Gorgonzola cheese.

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1⁄2 tsp. salt
  • 4 large portobello mushrooms (1 1⁄2 lbs.)


  • Heat grill to medium. Brush mushrooms with olive oil and season with salt.
  • Grill well above the coals for 3 minutes, turn, and grill for 3 to 4 more minutes. Give larger mushrooms an extra minute or two.
