Melted Cheese Triangles
Serves: 8Hands-on: 45 minutesTotal: 45 minutesDifficulty: Medium
- ¼ lb. mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups fresh dill, packed
- 24 square wonton skins
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- Slice the cheese into 24 strips, each 1" long and ¼" thick. Cut dill into 1" pieces.
- Work with a few wonton skins at a time. Keep others covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying. Brush edges with beaten egg. Place 1 strip of cheese and 1 piece of dill in the middle and fold to form a triangle. Press edges firmly to seal. Place the triangles on a lightly oiled surface and cover with a kitchen towel to keep from drying out.
- In a 5-quart saucepan or a deep fryer, heat oil to 370°F. Fry the triangles, 5 at a time, until golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
