Mexican Hot Chocolate

Few things are a more comforting on a winter night than a cup of hot cocoa, except this hot cocoa with a little extra spice.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped (you could also use chocolate chips)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. salt

Directions

  • Over medium heat, combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Whisk constantly until mixture is hot, but not boiling, about 6–8 minutes. Pour into mugs and serve.
