  • ½ cup popcorn kernels

  • To “air-pop” popcorn in the microwave, add the popcorn kernels to a brown paper bag large enough to hold the yield. Fold down the top. Spray the bag with water (or wet your hand and tap water onto the sides and bottom of the bag). Microwave on high for 3 minutes, or use the popcorn setting if your microwave has it.
  • As the corn pops, listen closely. Once you no longer hear popcorn popping every 2 seconds, stop the microwave; otherwise, the already-popped popcorn may burn. (There are almost always some unpopped kernels in each batch.)
