This sweet bread, called something different in every family, makes a great breakfast or snack. You can substitute other nuts for walnuts, if you prefer.

  • 2 cups honey
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1⁄4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1⁄2 cup whole milk
  • 1⁄4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts


  • Preheat the oven to 275°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients. Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a clean towel and allow it to rest for 30 minutes.
  • Form the dough into small oval loaves and place on the greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 1 hour. Let cool before serving.
