Oatmeal Drop Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 package (6 oz.) chocolate morsels

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugars until light. Beat in the eggs, milk, and vanilla until well mixed. Stir in the flour, soda, cream of tartar, and oats. Stir in the raisins, nuts, and chocolate. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until light brown on the bottoms. Do not overbake. Let cool completely on racks.
