Paleo Pear Butter
Make this delicious spread in early fall, when all types of pears are available in the market.

Ingredients
- 8 large pears, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 2 cups water
- 3⁄4 cup honey
- Juice of 1 medium lemon
- 1⁄4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1⁄4 tsp. ground ginger
Directions
- Boil the pears and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until tender. Remove pears with a slotted spoon and pulse briefly in a food processor until slightly chunky.
- Add the pears, honey, and lemon juice in a large nonreactive pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Add the spices and cook for 2 more hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thick and spreadable.
- Allow to cool and remove the star anise. Store in airtight canning jars.
