Pecan pie can be a tasty, but unhealthy, holiday tradition. Clean it up by eliminating the fat- and sugar-laden ingredients with healthier alternatives that maintain that same great taste and crunch.

- 4 cups natural pecans, divided
- 3⁄4 cup coconut oil
- 1 cup honey
- 1 1⁄2 cups dates, pitted
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 unbaked pie shell (9 inches)
- In a food processor, process 3 cups pecans, coconut oil, honey or agave nectar, and dates until thickened. Move to a mixing bowl, and add the nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves to the pecan mix, and blend well.
- Pour the pecan mix into the pie shell, and top with the remaining pecans. Press them lightly into the pie, and allow the pie to set for 4 hours.
