Pecan pie can be a tasty, but unhealthy, holiday tradition. Clean it up by eliminating the fat- and sugar-laden ingredients with healthier alternatives that maintain that same great taste and crunch.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups natural pecans, divided
  • ¾ cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1½ cups dates, pitted
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 unbaked pie shell (9")

Directions

  • In a food processor, process 3 cups pecans, coconut oil, honey or agave nectar, and dates until thickened. Move to a mixing bowl, and add the nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves to the pecan mix, and blend well.
  • Pour the pecan mix into the pie shell, and top with the remaining pecans. Press them lightly into the pie, and allow the pie to set for 4 hours.
