Fresh eggnog is so much better than the store-bought varieties that you likely will never go back. Remember to keep some alcohol-free eggnog in the refrigerator for children and guests who don’t imbibe.

- 6 large eggs
- 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 pint heavy cream
- 1 pint milk
- 1 pint whiskey
- 2 oz. rum
- 1 Tbsp. grated nutmeg
- Separate the egg yolks and whites, and place the yolks in a large bowl. Add the sugar to the yolks, beating at medium speed until the yolks are stiff.
- Beat the egg whites until foamy and stir into the yolk mixture along with the cream and milk. Add the whiskey and rum. Stir thoroughly.
- Chill for 2 hours. Serve topped with grated nutmeg.
