Perfect Eggnog

Fresh eggnog is so much better than the store-bought varieties that you likely will never go back. Remember to keep some alcohol-free eggnog in the refrigerator for children and guests who don’t imbibe.

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 pint whiskey
  • 2 oz. rum
  • 1 Tbsp. grated nutmeg


  • Separate the egg yolks and whites, and place the yolks in a large bowl. Add the sugar to the yolks, beating at medium speed until the yolks are stiff.
  • Beat the egg whites until foamy and stir into the yolk mixture along with the cream and milk. Add the whiskey and rum. Stir thoroughly.
  • Chill for 2 hours. Serve topped with grated nutmeg.
