Perfect Popcorn

High in fiber and low in fat, popcorn is the perfect whole-grain snack.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • ⅓ cup popcorn kernels

Directions

  • Heat the oil in a 3-quart lidded saucepan. Test the temperature by tossing a few kernels in. If they pop, the oil is ready. Add the rest of the popcorn and cover. Once the popcorn starts to pop, carefully shake the pan by sliding it back and forth over the burner.
  • When the popping slows to the point that there are several seconds between pops, remove from heat and pour into a bowl. Add desired toppings.
