Red Hot Barbecue Sauce

Use this homemade sauce to crank up the spiciness level at your next barbecue.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1⁄2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1⁄2 tsp. salt
  • 1⁄2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1⁄2 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1⁄4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1⁄4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1⁄4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1⁄4 tsp. onion powder

Directions

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan over high heat. Use a whisk to blend the ingredients until smooth. When the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove it from the heat and cool before using.
